Code of Conduct

Members of STAR Association (*STAR*) agree to at all times, to uphold the reputation and mission of STAR and to protect and improve the quality and standards of Singapore Talents, Artistes and Resources through recognizing, supporting and promoting excellence within the Events and Entertainment industry (*the Industry*). The aim of STAR is to enable STAR members (‘Members’) to demonstrate their commitment to providing the highest principles of professionalism, integrity, fair practice and ethics and to enhance the operation, image and reputation of the Industry.

Membership in STAR is not for personal gain nor for the benefit of a related person. Members share a mutual desire to work together for the overall betterment of the Industry. Members further share a desire to learn from one another to exchange and contribute skills, expertise, knowledge and experience with one another. Veterans are encouraged to seek out opportunities to mentor their younger counterparts.

Members shall act in the best interest of STAR and their fellow Members and shall not get involved in any criminal activity, cause nuisance or act in any way likely to bring disrepute to STAR, their fellow Members and the Industry. Members shall act with honesty and integrity in their dealings with clients, their fellow Members, and colleagues in the Industry.

Members shall treat each other and their colleagues in the Industry, with fairness and with respect, to not slander, bad-mouth, or cause rumours to be spread in which a person’s reputation and integrity is called into question without proof. To be honest in their dealings, to not cheat, lie, steal, or cause loss of money or goodwill. To not discriminate against any individual on the grounds of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.

Members shall honour their contractual obligations and refrain from poor business practices in their commitments to their clients, their fellow members and colleagues in the Industry. Members are to maintain a professional conduct and be punctual for their engagements, and to treat their fellow Members and colleagues in the Industry as professionals. Where Members are unable to fulfill their contractual obligations, Members are to provide a suitable replacement should their contractual obligations requires.

Members must at all times act in good faith and in the best interest of STAR and exercise utmost care and diligence in the conduct of the business of STAR. Members should refrain from making public statements critical of STAR or of other Members. Members may be personally liable if they make a fraudulent or negligent statement, which results in any form of loss to STAR or to other Members.

Members shall ensure that no one shall use their position to promote private interest or for personal gain, nor misappropriate STAR resources.

Members must, if they become aware of any conduct by another Member which they reasonably believes involves a failure to comply with this Code of Conduct, notify the STAR Secretariat in writing to that effect as soon as it is practicable for them to do so.

Members are committed to keep information on STAR and the Executive Committee and Sub-Committees matters confidential, both ethically and lawfully, even after their terms of office has expired. This includes not using information for their personal purposes.

Members will be entrusted to represent STAR from time to time, with the approval of the President. However, Members do not have the authority to commit STAR to any course of action, whether financial or otherwise, except that which has been approved by the Executive Committee.
